Rural America provides a great wind source and it is the reason a large portion of all wind turbines installed in the United States generate power for on-site or local use. On a unit basis, distributed wind installations account for more than 67 percent of all wind turbines installed in the United States since 2003 and accounted for more than 33 percent of all wind turbines installed in the United States in 2014.
