Inerjy participates in FREPA policy discussion dinner

07-Aug-2009

30 July 2009; Orlando, FL--Inerjy executive Jamie Schlinkmann joined Florida Senator Lee Constantine, Representative Keith Fitzgerald, FREPA President Michael Dobson, Tampa City Attorney Chip Fletcher, and others in a discussion about renewable energy policy in Florida. The main goal of the meeting was to establish objectives that the renewable energy business community in Florida can collaborate on to send Tallahassee a specific and politically feasible policy recommendation in the upcoming session. According to the Federal EIA, Florida is currently in 43rd place (and falling) in the nation for renewable energy production per capita.  If state leaders have any aspirations of promoting a green energy economy, improving energy security, or setting an environmental leadership tone, legislation supporting these objectives will need to be passed. Other states have counted on RPS (Renewable Portfolio Standards) mandates to drive local renewable energy business and so far that has proved effective.
